Student Mentorship Association Regarding Technology and Science

The Student Mentorship Association Regarding Technology and Science (SMARTS) is a student-run program within Youth Science Foundation (YSF) Canada that promotes science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) opportunities among students in Grades 7 through 12.

The School Correspondent Network is a national network of students who have volunteered to help kids in their own school get involved in science. School Correspondents receive emails about upcoming science-related events and share this information with their teachers and peers.  School Correspondents inspire and engage their peers to take part in a variety of exciting opportunities, from biology competitions to forensic science camps.

Regional Correspondents are student volunteers who share their love for science with other youth in their communities and YSF-affiliated regions. They act as the eyes and ears of the local science scene: they let the School Correspondent Network know about new science-related events or programs, deliver workshops on starting a science project and make public presentations at YSF-sponsored events in their community. They even work together across Canada to start new initiatives.

Our Science Fair Support area provides comprehensive resources and one-on-one peer mentoring to help students with their science fair projects.
